About our imagery
The Skin R&R brand is built around real people, real treatments, and real outcomes. The honest version of our imagery practice — including where we use AI-generated illustrative imagery and, more importantly, where we never do — is documented below. If you've looked at a photograph on our site and wondered whether it shows a real person or real treatment results, this page is for you.
— Our commitment
Every before-and-after photo is real.
Every before-and-after photograph on skinrr.com — and on the websites of independently owned Skin R&R locations — is of a real patient, taken at a real Skin R&R location, with that patient's informed written consent. We do not use AI to generate, retouch, or simulate before-and-after results. We do not use AI to enhance or alter the appearance of treatment outcomes. This is the single most important commitment on this page, and it does not change.
What we use AI imagery for
Like most consumer brands, we sometimes use AI-generated imagery for illustrative purposes — the kind of role that stock photography traditionally fills. In our case, that includes:
- Atmosphere and aesthetic. Editorial hero images that establish mood, lighting, and the visual world of the brand.
- Illustrative concepts. Images that represent a service category or a feeling rather than a specific procedure or outcome — for example, an abstract depiction of skincare or a generic spa environment.
- Backgrounds, textures, and accents. Visual elements used for layout and design rather than to depict a person or treatment.
Our brand standard prefers authentic photography of real estheticians, real treatment rooms, and real patients — and we use that whenever it's available. AI imagery fills the gap where stock would otherwise live, and we choose it over generic stock because it lets us maintain a more consistent visual language.
What we never use AI for
To be unambiguous, the following categories of imagery on Skin R&R properties are never generated, enhanced, simulated, or altered using AI:
- Before-and-after photographs. Always real patients, real treatments, real outcomes. No AI generation, no AI enhancement, no AI retouching of results.
- Testimonial imagery. Photographs that appear alongside a patient testimonial are of the actual person providing the testimonial.
- Patient photographs in any context. Any image identified or implied as a Skin R&R patient is a real person.
- Provider photographs. Our estheticians, supervising physicians, and clinical staff are shown as themselves. We do not use AI to generate fictional providers.
- Treatment process photography. Images that depict a procedure being performed show a real procedure being performed.
- Facility photography. Images of a specific Skin R&R location depict that actual location.
Real vs. illustrative — the distinction
Two simple categories, and the difference matters:
— Always real
Anything that represents an outcome, person, or place
- Before-and-after photographs
- Patient and testimonial photographs
- Provider and staff photographs
- Treatment-in-progress photography
- Photographs of specific clinic locations
— May be AI-generated
Atmospheric and illustrative imagery
- Editorial hero imagery and mood photography
- Abstract or conceptual illustrations of skincare
- Generic spa or treatment-environment imagery used decoratively
- Backgrounds, textures, and design elements
- Imagery used in places stock photography would traditionally fill
Why we draw the line where we do
Treatment outcomes are the one thing a prospective patient most needs to be able to trust. The decision to come in for a service — and to spend money on it — is made partly on the strength of what we show you in before-and-after imagery. Using AI to generate or improve those results would damage that trust in a way that no amount of disclosure could repair, and it would mislead someone in a way that matters to their decision. We don't do it, and we won't.
For everything else — the mood of a hero image, the texture behind a section title, an aesthetic illustration of a category of care — AI is, in our view, a more honest replacement for generic stock photography than the alternative. The aesthetic stays consistent with the brand, and no one is being asked to mistake an atmospheric image for a representation of real results.
Independently owned locations
Each Skin R&R location is independently owned and operated by a franchisee. Skin R&R provides each franchisee with imagery standards that follow the commitments on this page, including the prohibition on AI in before-and-after and patient imagery. Each franchisee is responsible for the imagery used on its own website and marketing materials. If you have a concern about imagery used by a specific Skin R&R location, please contact that location directly — and you can also let us know using the contact details below.
If you have a concern
If you've seen an image on a Skin R&R property and you're not sure whether it's real or illustrative, write to us. If we've made a mistake — if something is labeled in a way that could mislead, or if our category lines have drifted — we want to know and we will fix it. We review this page and the imagery on our sites at least quarterly.
