— Frequently Asked
Good questions.
Everything you want to know about Skin R&R — our treatments, our technology, and what to expect when you walk through the door.
General
What is Skin R&R?
Skin R&R is a precision skincare studio offering clinical-grade treatments in a calm, results-driven environment. Our menu spans laser services, facials, PCA chemical peels, injectables, dermaplaning, microcurrent, LED therapy, waxing, and medically supervised GLP-1 programs — all performed by licensed providers who tailor every treatment to your skin and your goals.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
Every visit starts with a thorough consultation. Our providers will assess your skin, listen to your concerns and goals, and map out the right path forward — whether that's a single service or an ongoing treatment plan. You don't need to come in knowing exactly what you want. That's what we're here for.
Do you work with all skin types and tones?
Yes. Our technology — including the Aerolase® Neo Elite — is cleared for all Fitzpatrick skin types and tones. Whether you have fair, medium, olive, or deep skin, we offer treatments designed to be effective across the full Fitzpatrick spectrum when performed by a licensed provider. Individual suitability is always assessed at your consultation. We'll always confirm compatibility before any service.
How often should I come in?
It depends on your skin and your goals. Most clients doing maintenance facials come in every 4–6 weeks. Laser hair reduction typically requires 6–8 sessions spaced several weeks apart. Peels and more intensive treatments are scheduled based on your skin's response. We'll build a realistic, personalized plan at your consultation.
Can I come in if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Some treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — particularly laser services, chemical peels, injectables, and GLP-1 programs. Please let us know when booking and we'll recommend the safest options available to you. Your wellbeing always comes first.
Booking & Visits
Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking ahead — especially for laser services, peels, and injectables — to secure your preferred time and provider. Walk-ins are welcome based on availability, but we can't always guarantee same-day service for all treatments.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
For most facial services, arrive with a clean face and avoid exfoliants or retinol for 24–48 hours beforehand. For laser treatments, avoid sun exposure and shave the area 24 hours before your session. For peels, we'll send specific prep instructions when you book. When in doubt, reach out — we'll walk you through everything.
How long do appointments take?
It varies by service. Express treatments run around 30 minutes. Signature facials and most add-on combinations take 60–90 minutes. Laser hair reduction sessions range from 15 minutes for smaller areas to 45+ minutes for larger ones. Consultations typically take 20–30 minutes. We'll always give you a time estimate when you book.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. Life happens — just reach out as soon as you can and we'll work with you.
Laser Treatments
What laser technology do you use?
We use the Aerolase® Neo Elite®, an advanced FDA-cleared device used widely in precision laser skincare. It is a 650-microsecond Nd:YAG laser with FDA clearance for a range of indications. Most patients experience minimal to no downtime, though individual response varies. We also offer the Aerolase® Era®, an Er:YAG laser for controlled resurfacing targeting sun damage, deep pigmentation, fine lines, and textural concerns.
How many laser hair reduction sessions will I need?
Most patients need 6–8 sessions to achieve significant long-term hair reduction (sometimes referred to as "permanent hair reduction" — the FDA-cleared term, which describes a long-term reduction in the number of hairs regrowing after a treatment course), spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on the treatment area and hair growth cycle. Hormonal factors and hair color can affect results. We'll give you a realistic estimate at your consultation based on your specific situation.
Is laser hair reduction safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. The Aerolase® Neo Elite® is designed to be safe and effective across all Fitzpatrick skin types, including deeper tones. Its 650-microsecond pulse technology bypasses the melanin in the skin and targets the hair follicle directly — making it well-suited for use across all Fitzpatrick skin types when administered by a licensed provider. Your provider will assess your individual suitability prior to treatment.
Does laser treatment hurt?
The The Aerolase® Neo Elite® is reported by many patients to be more comfortable than some traditional laser platforms. Most clients describe it as a mild warmth or light snapping sensation. Numbing cream is generally not required for most patients, though individual sensitivity varies and your provider may recommend it based on the treatment area. Comfort levels vary by treatment area and individual sensitivity — we'll check in with you throughout every session.
Is there downtime after laser treatments?
Most Aerolase® Neo Elite® treatments involve minimal to no downtime for most patients, allowing a typical return to normal activities. Individual recovery varies. Resurfacing treatments with the Aerolase® Era may involve 3–5 days of redness or peeling depending on the depth of the treatment. We'll always brief you on exactly what to expect before we begin.
Facials & Peels
What's the difference between a facial and a peel?
Facials cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin using a combination of manual techniques, tools, and serums. They're great for maintenance, hydration, and addressing surface-level concerns. Chemical peels use medical-grade acids to penetrate deeper into the skin, accelerating cell turnover to address pigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines, and uneven texture. Peels deliver more dramatic results but may involve some downtime.
What PCA peels do you offer?
We offer three PCA Skin® peel levels: the Signature Peel for clients new to chemical exfoliation, the Advanced Peel for more targeted correction of pigmentation, acne, and aging, and the Ultimate Rejuvenation Peel for maximum resurfacing and renewal. Your provider will recommend the right level based on your skin's history and goals.
What is DermaSweep®?
DermaSweep® is a medical-grade dermabrasion system that combines physical exfoliation with targeted serum infusion in a single treatment. Unlike traditional microdermabrasion, DermaSweep® delivers active ingredients directly into the skin immediately after exfoliation, maximizing absorption. It's customizable for brightening, clarifying, anti-aging, or hydration goals — with no downtime.
What is microcurrent and what does it do?
Microcurrent uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate the facial muscles and boost cellular energy production (ATP). Many patients describe the result as a lifted, toned, more sculpted appearance. Microcurrent is not a substitute for surgical procedures; individual results vary. It also improves product absorption and skin tone over time. Results are cumulative, so regular sessions are recommended for best outcomes.
Injectables & Advanced
Do you offer Botox® Cosmetic and fillers?
Yes. We offer neuromodulators (Botox® Cosmetic and similar products) and dermal fillers, prescribed and administered under licensed medical supervision in accordance with applicable state regulations. All injectable services require a medical consultation to review your medical history, discuss your goals, and confirm eligibility before any treatment. Individual results vary; risks and side effects will be reviewed with you.
What is GLP-1 therapy and how does it relate to skincare?
Skin R&R offers medically supervised weight management programs that may include GLP-1 receptor agonist medications. These are prescription medications that may be prescribed by a licensed medical provider following an individual evaluation, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations. Eligibility, dosing, and continuation are determined on a case-by-case basis. As the body transforms through weight loss, skin volume, elasticity, and tone may change — and our skincare services can be coordinated with your program to support those changes. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed. GLP-1 medications carry potential risks and side effects that will be reviewed with you by your medical provider. Not all patients qualify; this is not medical advice.
